INDIEGOGO, Product Overview

This is an international crowdfunding website which was started in 2008 under a different name. It is a site for those who want to solicit for an idea, charity or startup business. This is a site for people who want to get their ideas going. It runs on a reward system. The people donating to this site can receive a gift instead of equity, which some say that could change. The site is looking into having an equity funding in the future. There is a site for emergencies as well. Called Indiegogo Life which was changed to in 2015. In 2012 President Barack Obama partnered with Indiegogo to offer crowdfunding to entrepreneurs in the United States. This site has a lot of people who go to it every year.

The Good & the Bad

The Good:

1. This site helps businesses get up and going.
It helps people to bring their dreams to life.
This site is good for getting money to start your home based business.
2. It does not promote illegal activity, gambling, or any of the other things that violates people’s rights.
3. It is a popular site, so your campaign may get funded.

The Bad:

1. Like any other crowdfunding, you need to have people who are willing to donate to your cause.
A lot of people are asking for money for a lot of businesses. You could be overlooked.
2. No company give-a-ways in the form of perks, money, or other interests in the company as an incentive to have someone give your business money.
3. Why go and ask friends and family for money on a website when you could just go to them and ask them for money.
4. On a website like this they take 5% of what is given. If you know someone is going to be able to give you start up capitol, you could just ask them for it.
5. There are a lot of crowd funding sites out there. People may go to the site you are at or they may not. There is no guarantee of getting money from a crowd funding site.

Indiegogo is a crowdfunding site geared towards the business person. If you are going to start your business and need funding, this may be a good site to go to. You cannot advertise or give things out to people who are giving you money. This is strictly a request for money to start your business.

INDIEGOGO Tools & Training

No tools or training on how to get money from this site. You

The owners of this site seem to be genuinely interested in helping you to get money. But that is as far as it goes.

There is a 5% fee for every contribution to your cause.

My Final Opinion of INDIEGOGO

My opinion on Indiegogo, it is another crowdfunding site.

INDIEGOGO at a Glance…

I believe this site is legit. However, it is like begging for money to start your business. When there are sites out there that will help you start your business, give you training, and do this for nothing, why would you really need to use a crowdfunding site? This is my opinion.

What is your opinion? Have you used this site? Were you successful?

How to Make Money Blogging

blog with pencils

What is a blog?

Before knowing how to make money with a blog, I think we need to know what a blog is first of all.confusing blog

So here is the definition, according to Wikipedia, of what a blog is:

“A blog (a truncation of the expression weblog)[1] is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual[citation needed], occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject. More recently, “multi-author blogs” (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets, universities, think tanks, advocacy groups, and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of Twitter and other “microblogging” systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into societal newstreams. A blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.”

And according to a blog is:ideas blog

“a noun 1. a website containing a writer’s or group of writers’ own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other websites. 2. a single entry or post on such a website: She regularly contributes a blog to the magazine’s website.”

Okay, now that tells you what it is. Now, what do you do with a blog?

Logo blog with arrowsSo essentially a blog is a website. Okay, now I did not realize that. Did you? Okay. So I would guess that this website is a blog. Interesting isn’t it? Now that we know that a website is a blog and a blog is a website then we can go ahead and fill in the rest of the gap. Okay, now you are thinking that this old lady is learning something that you already knew, right? So, sometimes it takes me a while to figure someth

ing out.

Next step. Now we need to know how to make money with our blog. Are you ready for that? I know I bundle

When looking up how to make money blogging on the website, you will find that there are many different ways, companies, and sites that give you step by step ways of making money blogging, or making a website. (Wow, I did not realize there were so many different sites, did you?) Anyway, there are sites that teach you how to do it, some that have a 30-day challenge, some that show you what to do, and others that just tell you about it.

Okay, where is the money? I would like to know that myself. So here goes. But first, let’s talk basics.

Seems like you have several things you need to making a good blog. Some of the first steps you probably already know. But I will put them here anyway because there may be someone out there that does not know them. I, being somewhat of a fussy person, likes to know that I have covered all the basis.

First – You need a computer or something to make the blog on and the internet.laptop taking notes

You cannot make a blog or money without a computer or something that will connect to the Internet. But then again, you already know this, am I right? And without the internet, you will not get very far. So this is really a beginner item. You, being in college, probably already know this.

Second – A blog.

successful blog

Yes, you need a blog to make money blogging. (Okay, now I bet you are thinking that this lady has gone nuts. Everyone knows that you need a blog to make money blogging. But there may be someone out there that does not know this.)

Third – Time.

clock with person hanging on one hand

You need time set aside to write your blog. (Again, you are probably thinking Duh! Everyone knows that!)

Fourth – A subject or Niche.  identify your niche

Yes, you need something to talk about. (Okay, now you may be a little frustrated at me for going into the basics like this, but you know some people think that you can fix a computer with a sledgehammer and a screwdriver too!)

Now to the nitty Gritty of making money blogging.

There are several things to make money blogging they include:

  • Creating content
  • Building your brand
  • Promoting your brand
  • Choosing and implementing streams of income (Hey, that’s money!)

Creating content:

Okay this sounds simple, right? Well, let’s see how simple it really is. We need to find something that someone is interested in. So how do you find out what someone is interested in? You ask. Okay. That done. Oh, so you don’t know what to ask? Need some help? Okay. We can do customers

What I do is sit down with a pencil or pen and a piece of paper and laptop taking noteswrite down what I am interested in. Then go to google, bing, or any of the search engines and put each of your interests into the search engine and see if anyone likes them. Or when you are going to that party ask people what they like. Bet you will get a lot of answers there.(I would ask for 2 or 3 from people at a party. Because they may go on and on. And unless you don’t want to get up the next morning, I would limit it to the top 2 or 3 that they have.) You also may want to limit them to things that are not going to get your site banned from the internet too. There is a way that you can go to Facebook and look up interests and see if anyone on Facebook who has your same interests.

Pick 4 or 5 of your interests. Sit down and write something about each of them. (I know you have some time in between homework, class, and the party to do this.) Just write a few sentences about each. Nothing dramatic. You can do this, right?

Building and promoting your brand.

These two go together. You have to build rapport with people on the internet. (Yes, there are people out there in the internet land.) They are not all at school. There are other people you know and there are people you don’t know. (Remember when your mom told you not to talk to strangers? Well, forget that now. You are a grown person. You are after all in college.) But do be careful who you talk to.

You cannot sell things to someone if you don’t know people. You cannot get anyone to visit your site if you don’t know people. So we want to know people who know people. Does that make sense?

Choosing and implementing streams of income

You will want to develop a stream of income. Don’t get caught up in trying to do only this, because without the others you really cannot get this. So don’t miss a step.

To be successful you need to consistently find new ways to make money. There are a lot of ways to make money. The different ways can be combined to make each one linked to another. Let me explain.

Display Ads

You can use display ads to promote a hosting site, like this:

This is a banner ad used to promote Wealthy Affiliate. You can use these ads inside your content, on the side of your content, or in the header or footer of your blog.

Private Ads

There are things called Private ads. These I do not recommend. They are getting ads from someone and posting them to your site. It is similar to an ad you take out in a newspaper or something like that. (I really don’t know much about these ads, but what I have read about them, they may give you more money but it may not be worth the time. Something you can look into and let me know your opinion on.)

Sponsored Posts

This is where you work with a company and write something up about their business or a product they have. It could be something as simple as doing an article about hamburgers for a small mom and pop restaurant in your neighborhood, or as large as a network marketing that you thought would be nice to join. You may want to limit these types of things because you don’t want your audience to be bored. (Am I boring you? Did I see you yawn?) Okay, we are almost done with this.

Affiliate Marketing

Then there are things called affiliate marketing. This is fun. In my opinion, you can go almost anywhere, promote a product, and get paid for it. (You are now a middle man/lady.) This is exciting! Do you have a favorite shop? Check them out online, go to the bottom of their page and see if they have something called affiliate. If they do, click on it. Sign up. Most of the time it does not cost anything to sign up. You should already have your blog up and running when you do this. And have an idea of what your site is about. Don’t be like me and start up your site and then have to go back to the affiliates to tell them what your site is about. When I first started this, I wanted to make money so bad that I forgot why I wanted to do my site. Not a good thing. I found out that you have to have a reason or description of your site to sign up to be an affiliate.

Okay. Now with all that said, let’s begin a blog. Okay? There are classes you can take, I know school again. But you can start for nothing, does that help? Go to Wealthy Affiliate, right now. Sign up. Go to the “get started” course, if you already know how to do most of this stuff and you have all your ducks in a row.

ducks in a row and one looking out

(Not literally! I am not giving you ducks.)

And start your blog! If you don’t really understand or you don’t have a niche yet, go to Wealthy Affiliate and start the Bootcamp. This will help you.

My Review for Wealthy Affiliate

Overall Ranking: Good
Price: Free to start up then $47.00 if you want to go premium
Owners: Kyle & Carson
Website: Wealthy

Wealthy Affiliate is a website builder. It lets you go through classes to build your own website in less than 30 minutes. It is easy to use and not hard to follow. If you get stuck, you can ask others for help.

Pros –

  • This is a great site to build friendships while learning.
  • It helps you to go through the steps to build your own website, promote that website, and get it up and running.
  • The start up cost is free. This is great for college students and others that are looking for some help in making a website and don’t have much money to spend on that website.
  • Make money while learning to build a website.
  • Encouragement – Great site to have others encourage you through your walk with getting your business up and running.
  • Free Trip to Vegas! (Okay, so I like this idea. Who else can say that they went to a website and got a trip to Vegas for just learning?)

Cons –

  • Most of the information is also located on YouTube. However, when using YouTube you don’t get the support that you have here. Yes, you can learn about how to build a website using YouTube, but you don’t get the people who can help you, steps that you did not think about nor can you ask YouTube questions.
  • You do have to buy your own domain.
  • Eventually you want to go premium, which does cost money.
  • You can get confused sometimes from some of the classes, but you do have the option of asking for help. So this is a pro and a con.
  • There is a lot of competetion.

Beginners –

As a beginner you will be able to learn how to build a site, put it up on social media, get it running and gives you all the steps to start a business. It will also help you to have someone look at your information and critique it as you go, instead of flopping around like a fish out of water not  I feel like a fish out of waterknowing what you are doing. It also gives some good ideas. It encourages you to ask questions, things that teachers in the younger years of schooling discouraged. Yes, they would always say that you can ask questions, but then you are ridiculed if you did ask questions. At least that is what happened to me.

Intermediate –

If you are an intermediate, you probably already have the basic stuff for your website but want extra help or a way to learn more about what you already know. This site is great for contacts. It will also help you to further your education and help you with those little things that you may have missed in school.

Professional –

As a professional web builder you probably are looking for new ways to do things, more people to generate to your sites, and a way to make more contacts. This site does just that. It is a great way to build relationships with others. It will help you to give your ideas on things, unless you are the kind of person who does not like to share things with others, whichfish out of water new guys if you are here you are not that type of person. Yes, you can find most of this stuff on YouTube, in classes, or anywhere else on the web, but are you really getting the contacts that you want? Ask yourself the question, am I getting all the leads, traffic, and friends to my site that I want to get? If your answer is no, then I would recommend at least trying this site out.

Have you thought along these lines? “Anyone can build websites, it is a dime a dozen on that, what you pay for is the imaging and content for the sites. This is where the money is at in the web field, not in the building a website. Plus you can google it and watch videos, and learn how to do it for free, why pay someone when you are looking to make money?” Well, my answer to this is that as you know it is easy to make a website, but this is more than just building a website. It is building relationships. It is building a clientele. It is helping others. It is not just a website builder.

Training –

The training with Wealthy Affiliate includes a boot camp that starts you out as an affiliate for the site. It will help you gain the knowledge to build and grow your business. If you are a pro at making websites, well, I believe you can learn something every day. For the beginner, this is a great tool. There are many paths for the learning.

You can use the Rubix site to build your own website, this is for everyone, pros, intermediates, and beginners. If you already have your own domain, you can bring that over.

There is a step by step guide to building your website and your business. Things that help you to learn how to build the website, but also helps you to get the traffic to your business and website.

Tools – The different tools available include:(Most are for the PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP)

Affiliate Boot Camp
Live Chat
Question & Answer forum (For Premium membership)
Progressive tutorials

Other sites
And others…

There is a lot of support when you use Wealthy Affiliate. I have not used this very long, but I know already that people on this site care. So if you don’t care for others, this site is not for you! help wanted

There are people who have done this for a long time, and there are some people who are beginners. Everyone has at least some knowledge to add to this great mixture. What one person learns from here, or elsewhere, they don’t mind sharing.

The best part, in my opinion, is that you gain friendships. Ynew friends and old friendsou get to share your knowledge about the things you know about and what works best for you. You also have a helping hand there to guide you and support you through the process.

You don’t have to do it alone. My struggles have always been that I do things and it is always me. No one to guide or help you through things. No one to let you know when you are heading in the wrong way. No one to tell you “You are doing a great job.” No one to encourage you through the steps. Now that I found this, I have the people to guidgot questions we have the answerse me, people to let me know when my site has a blurp in it. I have the support and the guiding that I need to succeed. Some people can do without this. However, I am not that type of person. I want someone to look at my site and see if it is okay. Tell me what I am doing wrong. Encourage me when I am not succeeding, and I like the fact that there are many people here that will say that I am doing a great job. And if you join, I will make sure that I will say that to you, too!

I know you are asking yourself, so what is the price for this? What price would you put on all this? Are you willing to pay lots of money for it? What does the freenormal college student pay for knowledge in the classroom? Usually the classroom in college ranges anywhere from $6,000.00 per 15 credit hours up to $25,000.00 for up to 15 credit hours. Well, with Wealthy Affiliate, you can start out free. If you chose to go premium, which would be good after you start making money, you would be spending about $47.00 per year or if you choose the yearly option would cost only $359.00. This is still less than the price you are paying per credit hour at college. And you can make money while you are learning. Can you do that at college?

Here is the price list for this website:

My opinion is that this is a great site. It is not just a website builder as some may claim. This site helps you through the steps to build a successful business. It helps you to learn how to do the stuff to make it successful. If you don’t want success, if you don’t want to earn money, if you don’t want to talk to others and have your site critiqued, then I would not recommend this. If you do want all of this and more, then come on board! I would love to meet you.

This is a caring site. It aims to help people get over the struggles that they encounter. So if you don’t care for others, this site is not for you!
